Beginner Tutorials#
Most people that learn Roux have a prior cubing background. However, if you’ve never solved a Rubik’s Cube before, some people still learn Roux as their first ever method.
I already know how to solve a Rubik’s Cube. How do I learn Roux?
The best way to get started is to use this Roux guide.
Alternatively, you can use Kian’s tutorial which is aimed for complete beginners, but is still fairly informative.
I don’t know how to solve a Rubik’s Cube. How can I get started?
Despite Roux being a speedsolving method, it is also a fairly good beginner method.
Kian’s tutorial is pretty good, but there is also a web-based Roux tutorial that you can use instead.
First Block#
- Neo’s insight on recognizing blocks
- Shadowslice’s “Frameworks” tutorial
- Teoidus’s comprehensive inspection tutorial (note that nowadays it is recommended to ““panic find”” a BL edge instead of a DL edge)
- Zhouheng’s First Block trainers (contains FB, FBLP, and an FB analyzer)
Second Block#
CMLL#
- List of many CMLL Algorithm Resources (2H and OH)
- James Macdiarmid’s insight on recognizing cases from all angles
Last Six Edges#
Note that for sets like EOLR and beyond, it is highly recommended to learn them intuitively, utilizing alternative solutions of what you already know, so doing a different EO for EOLR, a different EOLR for EOLRb, and so on.
- Teoidus’s tutorial for the fundamentals
- Crys’s DFDB tutorial
- Roux Reader’s guide for avoiding Dots
- Zhouheng’s LSE Trainers
- Jade’s EOLRb Trainer
- Jade’s LSE Trainers (note that the setting for not giving scrambles with Misoriented Centers is currently broken)
- Neo’s EOLRb algorithms (that are missing in trainers as none are <M, U> gen)

Miscellaneous#
These are unexplored algsets/techniques which could theoretically be used to improve the method.
- Straughan Recognition (see the Three Sticker Tracking section)
- TCMLL (algorithms only for OH)
- ACMLL
- CEOR (to do CPFB instead of FB, and COLS instead of SBLP)
Big Cubes#
- Kian’s Meyer tutorial
- Fengyuan Lou’s guide for everything you need to know about Meyer
- Louis’ parity CMLL algorithms

- Zucker Abudi’s insights on anxiety and thoughts (you can apply this to competition nerves)
- Frank Herbert’s Litany Against Fear (memorize and recite if you wish)
- The Huainanzi’s “The old man lost his horse”
Fingertricks#
- Anto’s OH fingertricks (for many types of moves, even shows multiple ways for some)
- Jayden McNeill’s insight on fingertricks
Reconstructions#
- The reconstruction database (contains Roux solves)
- eff’s Example Solves (2H)
